Kettil and Caroline were outstanding hosts. Communication was very responsive. The house is just like the pictures and very nice. The location is absolutely perfect, 2 blocks from the Oak Park high street and L station with easy connections to the rest of Chicago. It is a few doors down from the Hemingway Birthplace and a couple of blocks from the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio. An ideal place and location to stay when visiting Oak Park.
This was a great place for our short getaway. We came up here for a band gig, so it was nice to have a place we all could stay together. The beds were comfy and the space was enjoyable. The historical neighborhood made it great to walk around! The host are very friendly and responsive, which made it a better place for us! We are planning to return to this place for a longer stay!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in oak park. Comfortable beds, clawfoot tub, and even some snacking nuts and coffee available were really helpful. We made use of the garages which was a great help with oak park's strict parking rules. The house itself had a lot of history which was very interesting and we felt very much at home. Kettil and Caroline, checked in on us several times and were very prompt and communicative. Just a lovely house and host. Thank you!

EE Roberts – Cooke Villa Unit II, Enirte Top Floor
Kettil and Caroline's home was beautiful! Every room matched to pictures perfectly. Such a great charm to this house. Even though our stay was short my family enjoyed it and wished we could have stayed longer. Easy access with simple instructions. Located in a beautiful and safe neighborhood. Always received a quick response from Kettil with any questions we had. We have stayed at a number of Airbnbs in the Caribbean, Europe and Iceland and I would put this towards the top of the list for great experience.

Kettlestrings Home Unit II Top Floor
Kettil and Caroline's apartment is simply lovely: It's full of natural light, is very clean, and feels newly redone, but homey and comfortable. The beds and linens feel luxurious. The rooms are bigger than they look in the photos. There is tasteful, relaxing art decorating the flat. My teens enjoyed the pool table, and we appreciated that there were several other games available, too, as an alternative to TV. This gracious, historic home is in a fascinating neighborhood that feels spacious, quiet and safe. Though we didn't have time to take the tours, both Frank Lloyd Wright's home and museum AND the Ernest Hemingway home are a few houses down the street from Kettil's place. There is a free walking tour of all the prairie-style architecture available online. We enjoyed looking at all the different homes during a 20 minute walk to Trader Joe's for simple groceries; it was a 2 minute drive to Giordano's for famous Chicago pizza, in the artsy shopping district of Oak Park. Old fashioned ice cream from Petersen's rounded off a smooth arrival to this historic suburb.
We had a lovely experience! The location is excellent! You are a few blocks from stores, restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, a park, public transit and historic oak park sights. A dedicated parking spot in a garage made moving in very convenient. The apartment was very comfortable for our family of 6- two adults and four kids ages 1-9. It was kid and toddler friendly with plenty of space for everyone. The owners even brought a portable crib and high chair for us, and some bath toys, which was much appreciated! We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was excellent and included everything we needed for meals at home. The TVs included Netflix and other streaming services, and the pool table was a big hit with our kids. We would absolutely stay here again the next time we are on town!
411 Oak Park Avenue is beautifully located in historic Oak Park, Illinois. The unit is everything described and a bit more. Extremely clean, quiet, spacious and cozy. Communication with the owner was effortless and actually, enjoyable. We spent most of the days showing our children the history of Chicago and it was settling to know we had a safe, clean apartment to return home to. Thanks, Kettil!! We hope to return soon. The Collins family This wonderful apartment was perfect for our stay in so many ways! There are 3 large bedrooms, with plenty of closet space The living area is spacious also, and perfect for visiting, playing games, watching tv, and shooting pool! The kitchen has what you need as well as some extra's. And because the host Kettil is on the first floor apartment, he answers quickly (and even ran up to us a stick of butter that we forgot). He also offered to help my 83 yr old mom with carrying her luggage, and walking down the stairs, etc... We felt like we were staying at our relatives home, and we plan to return again for sure!
Staying in Oak Park at Kettil and Caroline's place was perfect for our group of six friends travelling to Chicago to sightsee. We prefer a quieter neighbourhood, so were thrilled with how serene Oak Park was, yet it was also only a 40 minute trip on the L to the centre of Chicago. The listing is exactly as described, with very comfortable beds, great amenities, and a wonderful living room to congregate and use the smart TV. Caroline and Kettil and their family were great hosts and always very responsive to any questions we had. They provided great recommendations for groceries, restaurants, etc. and the instructions for check in and garage-use were very clearly laid out. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
